In Body, Mind and Spirit

Jimmy Simmons and Stephanie Greenfield

Gyms can be an intimidating place. There is always someone leaner, fitter, stronger, and younger, and finding a place to work out that is comfortable and professional can be a challenge. NO EXCUSES Fitness Training Center was designed to meet this challenge. Our trainers were chosen not only because of their dedication to health and fitness, but also because dealing with their own personal issues has led them to recognize the importance of dealing with the “whole” person – in body, mind and spirit.

Jimmy Simmons has been a trainer for almost 25 years. His career has taken him to Berkeley, Chicago, Pleasant Hill, and fortunately for us, Escondido. When he joined our staff, Jimmy loved our name because he had heard coaches use the term “No Excuses” since he was 12 years old. Great coaches – like former Olympians Norbert Payton and Roy Caldwell, High School coach Wayne Brooks, and the late college and NFL legends Don Turner and Bill Walsh.

Since his football career ended (ruptured Achilles tendon) he has trained athletes, business owners, young teens, individuals with weight issues, bodybuilders, and many, many others. Jimmy believes that to truly succeed in sports, fitness or health you must practice proper technique, sound fundamentals and consistently reinforce positive habits. A motorcycle accident broke his back, hip and both legs, leaving Jimmy paralyzed from the knee down in his right leg. He may have lifting limits, but Jimmy always trains with intensity, focus and drive. In his words, “I have limits…but I also have No Excuses.”

At first glance, you may not think you have a lot in common with Stephanie Greenfield, but you may be surprised. Stephanie was a busy young mom with no time for herself. She thought taking an hour or so a day to exercise would be selfish, and her lifestyle left her feeling fatigued and miserable. She had to make a change.

Stephanie decided to try running, and ended up finding a great passion which she still enjoys. She recognized how her life was affected when she did not feel strong and confident in her body, and her fitness journey led her to discover what she believes is the secret to successfully maintaining a healthy, active life - it’s really not about the body – it is about figuring out what activities nurture a healthy balance in the body, mind and spirit.

As a personal trainer, Stephanie believes that we should all strive to reach our fullest potential. She has high expectations for her clients, and recognizes that through hard work and perseverance, each will see results not only in their bodies, but in every aspect of their lives. To quote Stephanie, “I am grateful to be in a position to do what I love every day. I help people to achieve and maintain a healthy physical body so they can go on to be their very best in every area of life. I’m glad I decided to make a change.”

Stop by and meet these amazing individuals. Their personal experiences as well as their professional experience may help you address your own challenges.
