Rotary Hears From Tax Collector

At a recent Shadowridge Vista Rotary luncheon, Dan McAllister, San Diego County Treasurer-Tax Collector, gave a lively, informative talk concerning the collection of property taxes. He stated that 94% of the taxes have been collected to date and many have gotten refunds due to double payment of their taxes. He also went over the input that came from San Diego tax customers' suggestions that resulted in the redesigned, colorful easy use tax bill statement. One million statements are mailed each year, which are now printed on recycled paper. Call 760.415.0257 for Shadowridge Rotary Club information.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

A Tribute to Dads

My Dad didn't spoil me much, he made me earn my keep,
I had to do my own climbing, and most of it was steep.

He taught me to hold up my end,
and then a little more.
He taught me to keep going
when I was tired and sore.

He taught me how to take a chance,
and not cry when I was lost,
And when I made a bad mistake,
I had to bear the cost.

I learned from him that credit
was sacred as could be,
That debts incurred and money owed
were paid by only me.

And when a deal would turn out sour,
and not be any good,
To do just what I promised,
do what I said I would.

He'd been through many adverse times,
and this is how he felt,
"If times get tough, just get tough too
and tighten up your belt "

Don't look around for any help,
but use your hands and head,
don't cry about the plight you're in,
but go to work instead.

We hear and read most everyday
what our government should do,
and all the money needed
to take care of me and you.

The only thing this country needs,
and needs it mighty bad,
is just a lot more people -
just like my Dad.
