Costa Mesa Article I grew up in Costa Mesa and I am proud of their resolution to be a Rule of Law city and deny sanctuary to illegal aliens (yes, I said ALIENS... not immigrants.) I have been teased so many times for growing up in the "O.C.", so this is something I can at last stand on. I worked at the Red Lion Hotel in Costa Mesa around 1991, I remember regular inspections of human resource documents ... there was advanced warning when inspectors came, people who had provided false documents were invited to leave quietly. Many staff members would simply disappear. So I can attest to the fact that Costa Mesa has fought the good fight for some time. My Grandmother immigrated (properly) from Mexico. She instilled in her children and grandchildren a love for THIS country, it's laws, and it's heritage. She got her education (a Masters at age 40) and integrated herself into this great country, always reminding us of the great opportunities here unlike any other place in the world. She would be so disappointed if she were alive to see what is going on today. /s/Amber Winckler ••••• Letters to the Editor are always welcome. We prefer submittals via email.
