Adopt a 'Recycled' Pet this Earth Day

The Escondido Humane Society is asking the community to go green this Earth Day by adopting a “recycled” pet from the shelter. The “Recycled Pets are the Best” special will make it easier for people to go green, as adoption fees are being slashed in half from April 22 to 25, for all adult animals. Special fees will be $55 for adult dogs and cats (6 months to 7 years); $27.50 for senior dogs and cats (7 years and up); and $22.50 for rabbits of all ages. All adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, up-to-date vaccinations, dog licensing (Escondido, San Marcos and Poway areas only), and more.

Just a few reasons why 'recycled' pets are the best are 1. Adoption fees are much less, and they are healthy and ready to walk out the door. 2. Adopting a mature animal avoids the demands of raising them; their size and temperament are already established, and they are often house-trained and other basic training. 3. A rewarding feeling about saving an animal's life and having a special friend.

The Escondido Humane Society Adoption Center is located at 3450 E. Valley Parkway, Escondido; is open from 10am to 5pm, seven days a week. Call 760.888.2247 or visit the web site at www.escondidohumanesociety.org.

Camp Pendleton is recognized and praised by those in the conservation community for a strong commitment to wildlife conservation. As a follow-up, the BV Audubon will sponsor a guided bird walk on Camp Pendleton on Saturday, May 1. For information, call 760.439.2473.
