Ready to Roll
Ten-year-old Priscila Aguas of Lincoln School tries out the bicycle she selected December 19 during the annual Bike Giveaway event, sponsored by the auto dealers in the Escondido Auto Park. Helping her are Gary Palmer, left, of the Penske Auto Group’s Honda, Mazda and Acura dealerships in the auto park and Ray Lampan, right, of Jack Powell Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge. In the background are Marv Gilbert and fellow EUSD trustee, Royce Moore.
Priscila was one of 100 elementary and middle school children to receive a new bike during the morning event at Brecht BMW. Each year, Escondido auto dealers raise money to give bikes away to children at Christmastime. The children are selected by their school principals, based on academic performance and displaying good citizenship practices. The program was started nearly 20 years ago by the late Bill Brecht, who founded the Brecht BMW and MINI dealerships in the Escondido Auto Park.
