Santa’s Mailbox in Escondido

Letters to Santa Get A Response This Year

This holiday season, children who craft lists or write letters to Santa Claus will have a chance to get a personalized response from him. Their letters just need to be dropped into Santa’s Mailbox located on the northwest corner of Grand Avenue and Kalmia Street, Downtown Escondido (by Architectural Relics) by Friday, December 18th. “Personal” responses from Santa himself will be sent within a few days of receipt.

Letters should be addressed to: Santa Claus, The North Pole, and include a legible return address. The “Letters To Santa Mailbox” is a project of the Downtown Business Association of Escondido. For more information about Santa’s Mailbox, contact Events Manager, Jenessa Schaniel at jschaniel@downtownescondido.com or www.downtownescondido.com

Temecula Community Christmas Dinner Needs Volunteers, Sponsors and Pies

The annual Community Christmas Dinner will be held from 11am to 4pm on Friday, December 25, at the Temecula Community Center, 28816 Pujol Street. This completely free sit-down dinner is open to anyone in the community. The Dinner is unusual in that its purpose is to share dinner and community spirit on the holiday with young, old, rich or poor, individuals alone for the holiday, and those who just want a dose of great community spirit.

Numerous anonymous donors and the Temecula Rotary Club sponsor the holiday dinner. Last year the committee served 1,500 dinners and they anticipate at least a 10-percent increase this year. Sponsors, donations and volunteers are needed. Volunteers can help on Christmas Day or by assisting with pick-up and deliveries, decorating and present wrapping prior to the event. Anyone wishing to donate baked pies should call 951.677.0403. For more information about the event, call 951.678.2471.
