Applebee’s Restaurant Honors Military,
Past and Present
In what most observers agreed was a class act, the Applebee’s Restaurant chain nationwide honored military veterans both past and present on Veteran’s Day with free meals. According to Lance Hannify, the Escondido Service Manager for Applebee’s, the veterans had their choice from a special menu of steak or chicken, together with an entree size salad, hamburgers . . . anything they wanted from their own special menu.
With the value of the meals pegged at approximately $10, the Escondido Applebee’s franchise alone gave away $9,000 worth of meals. Regionally, 111,000 meals were served, nationally, well over 1 million meals were served.
The Paper would like to both acknowledge and offer our hearty salute and congratulations for not only a brilliant public relations program, but an outstanding and unselfish way to honor not only today’s active duty military but to all those who served.
We managed to take only three photos of very happy military veterans . . . but the entire restaurant was full of convivialty with plenty of good food.
As the say in the service . . . Well done!
