June is Adopt-A-Shelter Cat Month
Esconido Humane Society is celebrating with Desperate Housecats
Promotion
The Escondido Humane Society isn't on Wisteria Lane, and there's no Edie, Susan, Lynette, Gabrielle or Bree in this neighborhood. But there are desperate housecats - desperate for new families, that is!
To help these felines find their happy endings, they are having a Desperate Housecats promotion during the month of June. During the promotion, all adult cats can be adopted for just $55; that's 50 percent off the regular adoption fee. An adult cat is any cat age 6 months and older, and they have them in all sizes, colors and ages. All cats are microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and spayed or neutered.
As an added twist, they have given five cats the secret nicknames of Edie, Bree, Lynette, Gabrielle and Susan (after the Desperate Housewives themselves, of course!). Anyone who adopts the cats with the secret nicknames will receive a special prize!
The Desperate Housecats adoption promotion coincides with National Adopt-A-Shelter Cat Month, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of making pet adoption people's first option.
To meet cats available for adoption, such as Sara, go online to www.escondidohumanesociety.org. For information about adoption, call (760) 888-2247.

Become a Virtual Volunteer
And Help Animals Find Good Homes!
Do you want to help animals in need, but aren't sure how? Become a Virtual Volunteer!
Virtual Volunteers play a major role in helping the Escondido Humane Society find homes for animals who need an extra helping hand. Some of them may have special needs, while others have been with them for a long time, such as Snowflake and Tigger (pictured here). These animals have simply been overlooked, but they have a lot of love to give and will make wonderful companions for the right person or family.
Simply print out the fliers from their Web site and post them in your community to spread the word about their wonderful animals. You also can help find them new homes by sending e-mails or simply by talking about them to your friends. Best of all, you will find great satisfaction in knowing that you personally helped an animal find a new and loving forever family. Through this one simple act you will make a lasting impact on the lives of many animals!

Lynn
Lynn, a 3-year-old tortoiseshell, is a very sweet girl. She loves to be around other cats and would do best in a home with another feline. She can be a little shy at first, but she warms up to everyone very quickly. As part of the Humane Society’s Desperate Housecats adoption special, Lynn can be adopted for just $55 in the month of June. Adoption fee includes microchip, up-to-date vaccinations, spay and vet exam. Lynn is one of the featured cats available for adoption at the Escondido Petsmart, 415 N. Escondido Blvd.
For more information, call (760) 888-2247 or log on to www.escondidohumanesociety.org. The Escondido Humane Society Adoption Center is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week.
