The Editor

Giving Thanks . . .

Dear The Paper Staff:

On behalf of the April 24th Joint Committee and the entire Armenian Community of San Diego, I wanted to personally thank you and your paper for the publication of the informative article regarding the Armenian Genocide.

It is comforting to know that there are newspapers out there that are well aware how important the topic of Armenian Genocide is for the Armenian community and for the community as a whole. The Armenian community of San Diego genuinely appreciates your decision to publish such an article and acknowledges your courage. Reading about the Armenian Genocide helps raise awareness and creates a mindset among people that does well in remembering, praying for, and honoring the victims of ANY genocide.

Thank you again for your love of and commitment to the Armenian community and we sincerely appreciate your efforts.

With love and prayers,
/s/Archpriest Fr. Datev Tatoulian
San Diego, CA.

More On Armenia . . .

Dear Editor:

I wanted to compliment you and thank you for the article you printed about the Armenian Genocide by Lyle E. Davis in your April 30, 2009, issue. I had never heard of or seen your paper before, but a friend gave me a copy of this issue because they knew I would be interested in the article. I went to your web site to see where I could find this paper, but all the places we tried had already received the next issue, so they didn't have this issue. I was, however, able to print it from your web site so I could share it with other members in my family.

Both of my parents came to America during this period and both experienced the Genocide. A very long and interesting story but needless to say made it here alive having lost most of their family who were killed or experienced the "death march." Both my husband's parents also came to America during this period.

It is very unusual to see this information in print and I want to thank you for exposing more people to what happened. You can be sure I will be picking up your paper and enjoying the articles from now on.

Thanks again.

A Correction:

An editing error was made in the course of publishing the profile of Arie de Jong. In fact, Arie’s son, Eric, bought the portable toilet division from USA Waste Services in 1998. Eric de Jong named his business Diamond Environmental Services and has owned and operated it since 1998.

The Paper regrets the editing error.

Letters to the Editor are always welcome.

Please limit your submission to 250 words. As always, we reserve the right to edit for length, content, and good taste.

We prefer submittals via email. Please send to: thepaper@cox.net but will accept faxed copies and regular mail. We will, however, screech mightily if and when we receive them because, being lazy, we don’t like to have to retype Letters to the Editor or Press Releases. With email it’s a lot quicker and easier to edit.

If you have an item for The Social Butterfly, you can email that to: TheSocialButterfly@cox.net

Readers are expected to comport themselves at all times as ladies and gentlemen. Seeing as how that's all that reads The Paper, that should be easy.

We require your name, address, and phone number so we can verify the letter. We will not, however, publish your address or phone number.
