Illegal Immigration and Censorship
By Senator Mark Wyland
(R-Carlsbad)
In light of the recent activity connected with The Paper, I wanted to share my views on illegal immigration and censorship.
Concerning free speech, censoring media outlets for their beliefs is not only unfair, it's patently un-American. It's a violation of provisions outlined in the First Amendment that gives the press the freedom to write and handout to the public anything that they deem worthy of circulation.
What The Paper was censored for is an interesting topic as well. At a time when California is losing hundreds of thousands of jobs, and everyday more Californians are out of work and struggling to make ends meet, California jobs must go to only California workers. Giving jobs and benefits to those who enter this country illegally over our own citizens is immoral and completely unreflective of what this country stands for: rewarding those who work hard and play by the rules.
Senator Mark Wyland represents the people of the 38th Senate District, which includes cities in north San Diego County and the south Orange County cities of San Clemente and San Juan Capistrano.
