The Economy
Sadly the engines of the private sector that provides the power to produce the wealth that subsidizes government has either worn out or been suppressed. Pouring more trillions of borrowed funds into the public sector is no panacea to reverse the deterioration of the economy. Beginning with the Great Depression, at an ever increasing rate, the Government's deficit spending and irresponsible fiscal policies have led to the present out of control economic conditions now facing the Nation.
Struggling to solve a problem of its own making, Government bail outs and trying to create all kinds of public programs can only serve as a band aid. The survival of our capitalistic society can only endure with the very least amount of government control and intervention of the private sector. If there is ever to be a positive resolution, Congress must be swayed to stop its continued politically expedient, misguided course before digging the country into an even greater hole.

Letters to the Editor are always welcome.
Please limit your submission to 250 words. As always, we reserve the right to edit for length, content, and good taste.
We prefer submittals via email. Please send to:
thepaper@cox.net but will accept faxed copies and regular mail. We will, however, screech mightily if and when we receive them because, being lazy, we don’t like to have to retype Letters to the Editor or Press Releases. With email it’s a lot quicker and easier to edit.
If you have an item for The Social Butterfly, you can email that to: TheSocialButterfly@cox.net
Readers are expected to comport themselves at all times as ladies and gentlemen. See as how that’s all that reads The Paper, that should be easy.
We require your name, address, and phone number so we can verify the letter. We will not, however, publish your address or phone number.
