Review January 29th, 2009
Untitled Document

“2014”
a book review
by lyle e davis

photoI have seen what may become future . . . and I don’t like it. In fact, it scares the hell out of me.

In a brilliantly written, fully engrossing novel, Paul Gardner shows what life may well prove to be fact rather than fiction if we don’t get our act together as a nation. You read this book you will become frightened. Horrid memories of all too recent catastrophic events come racing back as Gardner begins his novel on the thirteen anniversary of the 9/11 terror attack on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and a failed attack on the White House.

Another violent assault begins; this following an earlier incident in which 24 separate cruise ships had been attacked and destroyed, resulting in a loss of life of 40,000 souls as well as the cruise ships themselves. This incident sharply affected all types of recreational travel, but most particularly, cruises. People were afraid. Terrorized. Which is, after all, the whole purpose of terrorism.

Now, even newer and wider terror. Violent explosions begin to occur . . . Muslim terrorists appear to be responsible. The authorities, now under heavy public pressure, begin to raid all of the mosques within California, Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. They capture enormous amounts of weapons and explosives . . . they detain the Muslims and begin to expel them into other states. The now empty mosques are burned.

Predictably, the Muslims throughout the nation begin to riot and attack anyone who is not of their faith. Newark, Detroit, Toledo, New York City and Washington, D. C. become the focus points of more terroristic attacks. Now the president of the United States orders all remaining mosques to be seized and to arrest and deport all Muslims who are not legal citizens.

Meanwhile, Latino separatists have seized control of the southwestern states of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. They threaten to secede from the union.

The president of the United States now orders ALL illegal immigrants, Muslim or otherwise, to be rounded up and deported. Included in the roundup are criminal aliens. Slowly, the nation begins to return to normal. Most all illegal aliens have been rounded up and deported. There is an apparent lull in terror. Will life once again return to normal?

We shall see . . . if we get the book “2014.”

This is an absolute MUST READ! It will shock you, it will frighten you . . . but it also might wake you up to what is happening within our nation today . . . and alert you to the fact that things need to change NOW. Or, at a minimum, we need to begin enforcing the laws we already have on our books. And, we need to start exercising some common sense.

Otherwise, the fiction novel may well become fact.

Paul Gardner lives in Escondido. He is a former US Army paratrooper. “2014” is his debut novel.
“2014” is available at BarnesandNoble.com and at Amazon.com.
Amazon, $21.56 (hard cover) paperback, $15.25.

Afflicted with Rheumatic Fever as a 7th grader, Gardner read a great deal and developed his love of reading and writing. He honed his research skills as a plumbing contractor back east, and decided, at long last, to try his hand at writing. He hit a home run, in our judgment.
