Sky from Rock 105.3 Goes All In For Humane Society
Sky is her name, and charity was her game - well, that and poker. Recently, Sky from Rock 105.3's The Mikey Show played, on behalf of the Escondido Humane Society, in a charity poker tournament at Valley View Casino. With support from everyone at EHS, including the furry ones, Sky hit the jackpot, winning the entire tournament and bringing home $5,000 for the shelter.
Sky was one of only two women in the tournament and was matched against the likes of Channel 4 personality Mark Grant; Glenn Hoffman of the San Diego Padres; Troy Hirsch and Brad Wills of FOX 5 San Diego; John Weisbarth and Steve Quis of Channel 4; and numerous San Diego radio personalities, including her co-worker Eddie.
Take a look at the photo of Sky holding her furry good luck charm, a 7-week-old kitten named Chatty Cathy who is currently residing at EHS. The kitten brought Sky so much luck that Sky and her husband are considering making her the newest member of their family, which already includes two cats, once she becomes old enough to be placed in a home.

The wounded service men and women are flown here from the battle zone front lines. Daily, LRMC receives more acute-care patients than any busy American hospital receives in two months; 2,200 people comprise the staff that treats the Wounded Warriors. Joanne related the story of one soldier as he arrived by airplane from the battlefield hospital and was met at Landsthul by the staff and the chaplain.
Following the presentation, chapter members donated, according to the Chaplain’s Closet wish list, 91 items of personal wear, 7 blankets/afghans, 2 DVD’s, 10 items for personal care and 45 lbs. of candy. Members donated money to cover the expense of packaging and mailing the boxes.
