Hidden Valley Kiwanis Installs New Officers
At a recent installation dinner, Incoming Lt. Gov. Betty Parker, installed the Hidden Valley Kiwanis incoming officers for 2008-2009 who will take over as of October 1. The new officers of the club are George Lentulo, President, Craig Carter, President Elect; Tim Cunning, Vice President; Chris Wynn, Secretary; and John Trudell, Treasurer.
Outgoing Lt. Gov. of Division 37, Walt Schuette, de-installed outgoing officers, Maurice Weaver, President, and Larry Ferguson, Secretary.

Orange Glen High School to Present BBQ for Alumni and Friends
The Orange Glen High School will be holding their 2nd annual Alumni and Friends Barbecue on Friday, October 3, from 5pm to 7pm, to raise money for educational needs. The event will be at the Dick Disney Memorial Football Stadium, located at 2200 Glenridge Road, Escondido. The event is prior to the Homecoming Night game, which starts at 7pm. Archaeological Center to Hold Awards Ceremony
On Saturday, October 4, from 4pm to 9pm, the San Diego Archaeological Center at 16666 San Pasqual Valley Road, Escondido, will be presenting an Excellence in Archaeology Celebration and Awards Ceremony. Enjoy an evening of fun and entertainment as archaeological projects curated at the Center that represent Excellence in Education, Cultural Heritage and Scientific
Research will be honored. There will be live entertainment, food by Four Seasons Catering, Live and Silent Auctions. Cost is $40/adult; $15/student/child. The RSVP date has passed; if you want to attend, call the Center to see if space is available.
Whelan Lake Bird Walk Scheduled for Saturday
Join Buena Vista Audubon Society members for a Whelan lake Bird Walk, always on the first Saturday of the month at 8am. Fall migration should mean lots of new species at this special birding area, not usually open to the public.

Vista Methodist Church to Present a Fall Festival
The United Methodist Church of Vista is presenting "Savor South Melrose," a Fall Festival celebration of the businesses and services in Vista. The event will be on Saturday, October 11, from 11am to 3pm at the church, 490 So. Melrose Drive, Vista.
There will be something for all ages: face painting, a moon bouncer, food, artisan's row, entertainment, display of hobbies (cars, model planes, trains), fitness classes, water conservation hints, Vista Fire Department, Vista Sheriff's Senior Volunteer Patrol, martial arts demonstrations, pumpkin patch, bicycle safety check, and more.
Admission is free. Tickets are $1.00 each for activities such as the moon bouncer, beverages, pumpkin decorating, and demonstrations. The displays are free. For more information, contact the church office at 760.726.0442.
Women Marines Association To Meet
The Edith Macias Vann Chapter of the Women Marines Association will hold their monthly meeting on Saturday, October 11. Association members are active in their local communities, looking for ways to help the community.
Upcoming projects include walking in the Breast Cancer Walk in Balboa Park on October
18; Marine Corps birthday luncheon, planning a Christmas party on Camp Pendleton for active duty women; and the annual Toys for Tots drive to donate to needy local children.
All active duty, former and retired women Marines and their guests are welcome. The meeting will be at Grandma's Hilltop Restaurant in Oceanside. Lake San Marcos Democratic Club to Feature Donald Cohen
The Democratic Club of Lake San Marcos will meet on Saturday, October 11, at 12:30pm, in the Lakeside Pavilion at 1105 Bonita Dr., Lake San Marcos. The featured speaker will be Donald Cohen. Mr. Cohen is co-founder and President of The Center on Policy Initiatives. Through CPI and his 25 years of experience as a community trainer and organizer, he has promoted higher living standards for low and middle income families, affordable healthcare and housing, and healthy sustainable communities. Folk and Bluegrass Music Club Celebrates Anniversary
The North County San Diego Bluegrass and Folk Club will celebrate it's 19th anniversary on Tuesday, October 7, at the Round Table Pizza, corner Ash and Washington streets in Escondido. The live music event is open to the public and there is no cover charge.

Knights of Columbus to Help Launch St. Mary's Fiesta
The Knights of Columbus, Regina Coeli 4953, will help launch St. Mary's Annual Fiesta with a Knight Poker Tournament, beginning at 6pm, on Friday, October 10. The first day of the poker tournament will be held at the Lawlor Columbus Hall at 515 West Valley Parkway. The following night it will be held on the grounds of the fiesta at St. Mary's Church, Broadway and

Tina Inscoe to Speak at Woman's Club Meeting
At the meeting of the Woman's Club of Escondido on Monday, October 6, Tina Inscoe, fine arts administrator for the California Center for the Arts, will talk about the future of the arts center. She will also give an update on artists scheduled to perform at the center. The Woman's Clubhouse is located at 741 No. Rose St, corner of Mission, Escondido. Cost for lunch is $8. American Legion Auxiliary Hosts Dinner
American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 149, will host dinner at 6pm on Friday, October 3, at the Veterans Memorial Building, 230 Park Ave., Escondido. A donation of $8 is requested for a dinner of meatloaf, gravy, baked potatoes, vegetables, salad, rolls, dessert, and coffee. Then on Sunday, October 5, they will serve breakfast from 7:30-10:30am at the same location, for a donation of $6/person.
Proceeds benefit children and youth, community services, veterans, and other charitable programs. The auxiliary meets the first Thursday of each month

Square Dance Classes Offered
