Bus Trip Planned to NEW Television Show "The Doctors"
Would you like to see a live taping of a brand new television show? Well, do I have good news for you! A bus trip has been scheduled to the taping of the inaugural show of "The Doctors," a new show to debut in September. The bus trip will be on Wednesday, July 30, leaving Escondido at 8am and returning around 4pm. The bus trip is sponsored by the Gamma Rho Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and there are a few seats left; first come, first served. Cost is only $25/person, and that includes a lite lunch on the bus. Reservations and payment are required in advance. RB Republican Women Celebrate July 4th in Style
Rancho Bernardo Republican Women (RBRW) have been participating in the local 4th of July parade since its inception. In early parades, the women decorated golf carts and drove them in the parade to show their patriotism. Now convertibles are used, as in this picture above, showing, (from l-r) Ann Gale; Lynn Ann Reagan-Jameson, president; and Cynthia Newsome. Driving, and soon to be a new member, is Elaine Russell. RBRW is primarily an information and activism organization. Speakers at monthly meetings speak to current political issues.

Rancho Buena Vista Chapter of DAR Celebrated Anniversary
Organized in May 2003, members of Rancho Buena Vista recently celebrated five years as a chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Charter members in attendance were Patricia Blair, Gail Diage, Izella Dickey, Katherine Hamphill, Alice Pritchard, Margaret Read, Janell Schneider, and Nancy Wade. Chapter members have contributed many hours to assisting veterans and active military, recognizing outstanding students, educating the community about the U.S. flag, conducting community-wide workshops to assist potential members, promoting American history, and contributing to literacy.
The chapter meets at Shadowridge Country Club in Vista the first Saturday of each month, September through June, and has members from Vista, Oceanside, Carlsbad, San Marcos, and Escondido. DAR is open to any female age 18 or older that can prove direct lineage to an ancestor who participated in some way in America’s fight for independence in the Revolutionary War. San Marcos Chamber Mixer Hosted by Lake San Marcos Resort
The July Business Mixer of the San Marcos Chamber will be Thursday, July 24, from 5:30-7:30pm, at the Lake San Marcos Resort. Reservations are not required. Members are $5 and $10 for guests at the door. Food, fun, no host bar, networking, and raffle tickets, all at the beautiful Lake San Marcos Resort. Escondido Chamber of Citizens Launches New Website
The Escondido Chamber of Citizens, formed in 1997 as a Political Action Committee (PAC), announces the launch of their new website. This new site provides an overview of Escondido city government, current community interests and issues, access to news, information about civic events, as well as links to educational resources about Escondido's history, environment and culture, according to its new president, Lisa Prazeau.
The new website conveys information that residents and groups can use to assist them when requesting their concerns be heard and addressed by local officials. Visit their new website at www.escondidochamberofcitizens.org.
Assistance League Awards Nursing Scholarships
Assistance League® of Inland North County recently awarded scholarships totaling $40,000 to be awarded to outstanding nursing school candidates preparing for a career in professional nursing. $20,000 went to the Palomar College Nursing Program and was presented to (see picture below l-r) Robert Deegan, Palomar College Superintendent-President; Suzy Soppet, President, Assistance League of Inland North County; Karen Warburton, Gloria Tecca and Sally Johnson, Scholarship & Grants Chair, Co-chair and committee member, Assistance League; Judy Eckhart, Professor and Chairperson of Nursing Education, Palomar College; Kim Harwell, scholarship coordinator, Palomar College Foundation and Richard Talmo, Foundation Director, Palomar College.
And $20,000 was presented to the School of Nursing at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM). Annual Bluegrass Concert and Ice Cream Social Planned
The Friends of the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe will present the fifth annual Bluegrass and Ice Cream Social on Sunday, July 27, from 4 to 6:30pm, at the Adobe, 640 Alta Vista Dr, Vista. The nationally acclaimed traditional bluegrass band, "Virtual Stranger" will be featured. The $10 ticket price includes an ice cream sundae or root beer float. The Rancho Buena Vista Adobe is part of a historic California land grant where the glory days of legendary rancho life will enchant you. Insight Vision Center to Hold Online Auction
Beginning on August 15, the Insight Vision Center will be holding their third year online auction to raise needed funds, and are asking for your support. You are being asked to participate in any of the following ways.
1. Donate auction items to add to the catalog. If you have valuable merchandise, rare collectibles, personal services, or access to unique events, these would be greatly appreciated.

3. Tell your friends. Do you know someone interested in supporting the cause. Share the
