Center for the Arts, Escondido Announces the 2008-2009 Performing Arts Season
A Preview

It looks to me like the Center for the Arts may just have found the magic formula that will deliver successful box office results this year. Wouldn’t be at all surprised if the Center winds up with a nice surplus rather than a deficit.
Why?
How about the Smothers Brothers? Vince Gill? Capitol Steps? The Preservation Hall Jazz Band? the Masterpiece Messiah? The legendary Doc Severinsen? The San Diego Symphony? These are just some of the top acts booked for this coming season.
We tip our chapeaux to Vicky Basehore, President of the Center for the Arts, Escondido, along with the outstanding team she has assembled to both book the shows that will appeal to our market . . . and who get the word out to the marketplace.
Christian Wolf, Director of the Performing Arts, seems to have found his footing and gotten a feel for what the marketplace is looking for in entertainment. He has put together a diversity of entertainments where there should be plenty to satisfy most any palate, be it pop, dance, country, classical, opera . . . novelty, and yes, even kiddie shows. (The popular KPBS Show, “Bob the Builder” is coming, too!)
Michael Wagman, the Marketing Director, makes sure the information gets out to the marketplace. Reviewing the calendar of events for the 2008-2009 is a treat in and of itself. One of the most professionally produced calendars I’ve ever seen. Already, I’m beginning to thirst for good seats to take in a number of the upcoming shows. I think you’ll be as impressed as we were. Wow! What a lineup!
