NCTD Financial Woes

The North County Transit District managed to spend almost a half billion dollars of public funds to build the Sprinter, a light rail commuter train between Oceanside and Escondido. This was to supplement and/or complement the already existing Breeze bus system. Now it is noted that, due to reduced tax dollars, some bus routes are to be curtailed, while possibly increasing the Sprinter service to accommodate week end passengers?

Am I missing something? These political perpetrators will blame it on the present economic slump that they couldn't foresee. Hogwash! A half billion dollars would have subsidized the bus system for years. The Sprinter is a done deal but where is the public outrage? Do we just sit back and allow such mismanagement to continue, as another example of out of control bureaucracy?

Computer Tips

Tips to keep private email addresses out of the hands of spammers:
1. Avoid giving your or anyone else's email address to any website.
2. Instead of forwarding email, cut and paste the text.
3. For group emails, use the "bcc:" (Blind Carbon Copy) field instead of "to:"
(Put your own address or a fake address in the "to:" field).
4. Want to do more? Attach this text as a custom signature to the bottom of all your outgoing email.

Editor’s Comment:Excellent advice. I have about 15 different email lists with whom I exchange emails. I wish all of them would follow your advice. Unfortunately, a number of them don't.

Letters to the Editor are always welcome.

Please limit your submission to 250 words. As always, we reserve the right to edit for length, content, and good taste.

We prefer submittals via email. Please send to: thepaper@cox.net

but will accept faxed copies and regular mail. We will, however, screech mightily if and when we receive them because, being lazy, we don’t like to have to retype Letters to the Editor or Press Releases. With email it’s a lot quicker and easier to edit.

If you have an item for The Social Butterfly, you can email that to: TheSocialButterfly@cox.net

Readers are expected to comport themselves at all times as ladies and gentlemen. See as how that’s all that reads The Paper, that should be easy.

Fax to:

Regular mail to:
