Indian Nation(s) to Support PPH?
Reports have reached us that Mike Covert, president and CEO of Palomar Pomerado Health, was touring Indian leaders through Palomar Medical Center and briefing them on plans for the new hospital on the western edge of Escondido.
Covert is quite a salesman. It is expected he is looking for financial backing from the tribe(s). The new hospital would gain much needed funds, the Indian nation(s) would get very desirable publicity.
One would imagine the leaders of the Indian Nation(s) have learned to make sure the “t’s” are crossed and the “i’s” dotted on any contract. The Indian folks have been through contracts with non-Indians before and have learned, the hard way, that you need to know who you’re dealing with. I don’t reckon they’ll bite on an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) such as the city of Escondido did. They are not legally binding contracts. Calls to PPH for confirmation or denial of this story were fruitless. Stay tuned. Keep your eyes and ears open. Something appears to be happening.
