Women's Group Holds Cooking Class for Teens

GFWC Contemporary Women of North County (CWONC), a local women's volunteer organization and social club, recently held a cooking class for teenage girls living at Casa de Amparo, a non-profit agency caring for abused and neglected children in San Diego County, and one of CWONC's favorite charities. The teens learned how to prepare and cook chicken, rice, salad and vegetables, followed by a healthy yogurt parfait dessert. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful luncheon together, and the young ladies received gifts of handmade aprons, miscellaneous cooking utensils and journals for writing and collecting recipes.

CWONC members volunteer at the Chefs of Del Mar fundraiser for Casa de Amparo, scheduled this year for April 27, and the annual Crystal Ball event in November, as well as host an annual holiday party for the children at the Casa residence.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer in your community as a member of CWONC, meeting new friends and participating in fun events on behalf of Casa de Amparo and other worthwhile causes, please call Marilynn Kroeker at (760) 471-6396 or visit the club website at http://www.cwonc.org. Join us for a meeting on the second Monday of each month, at the historic Wood House located at 1148 Rock Springs Road in San Marcos; social time at 6:00pm, meeting at 6:30.
