The young ladies participated in classes focusing on make-up demonstrations, hair tips, and self confidence; had pictures taken by a professional photographer, and put on a fashion show for their parents.

Scrapbook Event Raises Funds for Children's Hospital and Boys & Girls Club

On a recent Saturday, a group of 84 participants gathered at the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos to scrapbook and raise money and awareness for Rady Children's Hospital and the Boys & Girls Club. They raised nearly $11,000 in this, the fourth event in a year held by Scrapbook Royalty, Charitable Crops for a Cause (SBR).

Scrapbook Royalty, a one-of-a-kind organization, is led by seven San Diego women who love to scrapbook and donate their time to worthy causes. Since it's inception a year and a half ago, SBR's high energy events have raised over $94,000. "Scrapbook Royalty's unique structure educates participants about worthy charities and raises money, all the while providing them a creative outlet based on their favorite, or soon-to-be favorite, scrapbooking pastime," said Elena Etcheverry, the group's founder.

During the course of the day, participants "scrapped" and enjoyed raffles, silent auctions and contests including crowning the "Queen of Philanthropy" to honor the person who raised the most money. Each participant was required to raise a minimum of $100 in donations in order to attend, all of which benefits the charitable organizations. This event's "Queen," Michelle B. of Rancho Penasquitos, raised over $1200.

"Scrapbook Royalty is amazing! They tap into their passion for scrapbooking while raising needed funds for charity. It doesn't get any better than that!" said Shelly Anguiano Figueroa, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos.
