The Bureaucratic Battles
A Message from State Senator Mark Wyland
A seemingly simple task is always complicated with the addition of bureaucracy. Even more so when that bureaucracy is the California Department of Fish and Game.
After last year’s terrible wildfires, Oceanside officials recognized the need to clear the San Luis Rey riverbed of highly flammable brush and debris. The San luis Rey riverbed could act like a fire-channel bringing flames directly through the center of Oceanside.
Unfortunately the Department of Fish and Game is more concerned with a fish and a bird than protecting the lives and property of Oceanside residents. This week I will be testifying before the California Coastal Commission to add my support to clearing the brush in the San Luis Rey River.
Let’s hope that this time our livelihood is given priority.
