Another Christmas season has come and gone . . . but I came across something special I wanted to share with our readers.
Many of us have been touched by Alzheimer’s. We have had family, friends, neighbors who have come down with it.
It is a sad, sad disease.
I received a poem and requested permission to publish it. That request has been granted.
The author is a lady who has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease . . . she is in the early stages. Some days are better than others. Some days her mind is lucid . . . other days, not quite so much.
While in one of her lucid states, she wrote the following poem. It touched me. I hope it touches your heart as well:
A Different Christmas --
My memory is going, sometimes it's almost gone,
But still all those I love so much,
Still linger like a song --
Merry Christmas, all of you,
And in case this is the last,
Just know the joy it's given me
To send presents in the past,
And know I'll always love you,
Though I may forget your name,
My thoughts, if I can find them,
Will be with you just the same.
(Authored by Alda Gagnon)
I can almost guarantee that those of you who have seen Alzheimer’s up close and personal will feel and understand that poem very well. Those of you who have not, may begin to grasp a bit of what it is like to see a mind begin to deteriorate.
It is our deep and fervent wish in this brand New Year, that neither you, your family, or your friends are visited by this terrible disease. And we hope a cure will be found.

"FAIR TAX ACT (HR 25) - A sane solution to a serious National problem"
The time has come to change the way things are done in this country. As Americans we have put-up with a lot of crap these many years. There is discontent with the two party system and the Congress, specifically! The constant bickering between the Democrats and the Republicans, the Liberals and the Conservatives, on and on it goes, unending and relentless, where it will end is a very distressing thought.
We recognize the government needs our taxes and support to function. The present method of collecting taxes is archaic, unfair and chaotic. I have been doing income taxes for 38 years and I know the shortfalls and unfairness of our present system and I acknowledge the need for a more equal and fair collection system.
We have a group of active, concerned citizens, both Democrats and Republicans, coming down the pike with a grassroots program to change the tax collection system. Known as: "AMERICANS FOR FAIR TAXATION" they have introduced legislation (HR 25) for an equitable program for a National Retail Sales Tax. It is not a flat tax, as others have spoken about, rather, it is a "Consumption Tax" and you only pay taxes on ~ items you buy.
The proposed law will have the effect of eliminating the income tax, social security taxes, capital gains taxes, etc., AND abolishing the IRS!
You need to be aware of what will happen with a new fair tax system. So when you hear about this proposed law in the months to come, don't laugh, research it yourself by going to www.fairtax.org. It is an eye opener, a new way to go and they need your support and understanding. Go on their webpage and sign-up with them to show your support. It will take millions of people to get this law through Congress. So many people today, mainly liberals and lobbyist', don't want to see the law changed as they get "fat-cat" salaries under the present IRS Code. So it will take millions of hard working Americans to get behind this new law and get Congress to enact it. Hopefully, you will be among 'em! If you would like further information on this new law, drop me a line at:
