Contemporary Women Support Angel's Depot

GFWC Contemporary Women of North County (CWONC) recently donated their time and efforts to the second annual gala to raise money for Angel's Depot, an organization founded by Susan Hall, which feeds low-income senior citizens in San Diego County. Each month, Angel's Depot provides over 700 seniors with weekly boxes of nutritious, nonperishable food.

This very special event, the "Greatest Generation" fundraiser, was held in Premier-Jet's Hangar #3 at the McClellan-Palomar Airport, and included Polynesian dancers, live and silent auctions, and special guests including former prisoners of war from World War II and other local military personnel. Also in attendance was former world heavyweight champion Ken Norton, a former Marine himself, who donated two autographed boxing gloves to the auction, as well as dinner at the Pampelmousse Grille in Solana Beach to the winning bidder.

Over $45,000 was raised at this event, however, Angel's Depot is still in need of volunteers to help pack its "Senior Food for a Week" boxes, as well as food, money and other donations to help even more seniors through the holidays and the new year. For more information about Angel's Depot, go to

Former boxing champion Ken Norton and CWONC member Kaye Martin.
