Increase your IQ
We (The Computer Factory) have been in our present location at Bent and San Marcos Blvd. since the public library moved out in 1995. Every once in a while a long time customers will sheepishly drag in a Dell, Compaq or one of the other retail "PC packages."
Feeling guilty, they explain to us that circumstances beyond their control brought this miserable PC into their possession. A gift, an inheritance or a rebellious family member. They'll tell us "If I had my way we'd have bought one from you."
Relax. It's not a problem. We encourage our customers to shop around. We're in this business for the long haul and nothing creates a more loyal Computer Factory customer than a three-year ordeal with a Dell.
A long time customer asked us to quote a new system. He'd purchased several PCs from us over the years. He told us that he could buy a workstation from PC Club for nearly a hundred dollars less than ours. "Why not?" we advised him "If you can spend less money and get equal satisfaction it's just good business to do it."
In all honesty we didn't think he could but rather than argue the point we'd rather let him find out for himself how well off he was with both our PCs and service. He'll be back next year and we'll still be here.
We recognize that there are some legitimate reasons to buy our competitor's PCs. Let's say your wife insists you buy a new PC for her ne'er-do-well brother so that he can search the Internet for a job. You know the only thing this bozo is going to search for is on-line porn parlors. He's a perfect match for a marvelous $299 "Great Quality" PC from Fry's.
Then there's the high school graduation present for your "stoner" nephew who's off to college in the fall. Chances are this tweaker will flunk out and join a punk rock band before Christmas break. A Dell Dimension will set you back less than $400 and he'll never be able to hock it for more than a hundred bucks.
We repair and upgrade a lot of Dells, Compaqs, Gateways, HPs and E Machines. There are a lot more of their PCs in the world than Computer Factory PCs.
Our PCs are more reliable and frankly, we think our users are, on average, a bit more computer savvy and less prone to problems than the "package PC" users.
That's right, we'll come right out and say it. Our customers are smarter than Dell's customers.
So feel free to bring in your "package PC". Just by coming in you'll increase you IQ by at least 5 points. The bottom line is that we're happy to see you regardless of what kind of PC you bring in. The fact that you're coming to us is a compliment that we appreciate.
