Public Pulse August 16th, 2007

Editor, The Community Paper

I want to thank you for the courageous and mostly accurate article "The two faces of PETA." This kind of writing is what we used to expect of name brand big city newspapers: you are proof that it can still be done, even if the big guys no longer have the guts.

There is one significant misunderstanding in your piece. You said that "... PETA has done a great deal of good for animal rights." To those who work every day with the hope that our children and grandchildren will have the right to own and breed pets, eat meat, go to circuses and benefit from medical advances that depend on research animals, this reads like "... Adolph Hitler [did] a great deal of good for the Nazi party." 'Animal rights' isn't a good thing sullied by PETA's tactics, it is an evil that is the only reason for PETA's existence -- and that of HSUS, (Humane Society of the United States - closely aligned with PETA - is not affiliated with your animal shelters - editor) ASPCA and literally dozens of other organizations.

That animal rights may occasionally support a reasonable cause does not change the ugliness of the movement's goal: the ending of all animal use by humans, regardless of the resulting damage to either our species or others.

The animal rights movement is advanced by many organizations. At the violent end you find SHAC and ALF, wholly underground and with no non-violent program at all. Then comes PETA: they don't do violence themselves, but some employees do, 'dirty tricks' are a stock-in-trade, and they support violent individuals in various ways. And at the top of the dung heap are HSUS and most of the rest; they openly condemn violence as a tactic but do not condemn the organizations and individuals that do it, in fact at least one prominent HSUS employee has multiple criminal convictions for acts he committed before joining the organization.

Thank You For the PETA Article

Thank You for the nice article about "PeTA". I hope that millions will read it and finally find out what they're up to.

Now it would be nice to get another true article about the "HSUS" and what they're up too.

From the bottom of my heart

THANK YOU.

Mary
PS: the average pet owner needs to be educated and also informed about PetA's and HSUS whereabouts.

Dear Mr. Davis,

I am a Maine Coon Cat breeder near Washington DC. I'm actively involved in the fight against anti-breeder legislation, which has grown tremendously in the 15 years I've been involved. Recently I have decided to take a more public role. I'm expanding my personal website to include a section to educate people on what PETA and HSUS and the like really are about. This section is featured as prominently on my site as the articles on cat care and advice.

I would like to reproduce your article, ( http://www.thecommunitypaper.com/) giving you and your publication full credit for it. Please let me know if this would be acceptable.

My site, if you are interested, is www.damnynke.com. You won't find any identifying information about my husband and I on the site, courtesy of the Animal Rights movement.

Editor’s Note: Permission granted. - I find it interesting that PETA and USHA are such powerful organizations that individuals in the pet lovers world are reluctant to give their names out of fear of retaliation by PETA and/or USHA.

And Still More on PETA

You and your paper have always been a source of information and pleasure for me but I have to tell you the PETA article was your best. I am always impressed with the amount of research you must do before writing and wonder where you find the time week after week.

Now I have finished the article about American History and agree with every word. We are fortunate to have you and The Paper here in North County. Thank you.

Comment from a PETA Supporter

This article about PETA was very interesting. Could you tell me where the information came from? I would be interested to know where the writer went for the information included in this article.

It seems like there may be much more to the euthanization of animals than your article put forth. I think that PETA sees the very worst in animal abuse, and rather than let the animals suffer, choose the most humane way (through love) of putting these poor unfortunate creatures to rest and to take them out of their pain. This would not happen, by the way, if people would be more responsible in having their animals spayed and neutered--as PETA tries to work for -- instead of those people allowing thousands and thousands of tiny, defenseless and badly injured, unwanted puppies and kittens to roam the streets in every town, city and state!

Here are a few links that may be helpful for a more balanced article the next time you attempt to write about PETA.

Another Vote for the PETA Article.

My hat is off to Lyle Davis for his article, "Terrorists Among Us, 2 faces of PETA"! It is about time that the real story comes out about these people!

They have lied to too many people, and the ones suffering for it all are the innocent animals they profess to care so deeply about ... the ones they are murdering without a second thought.

People need to finally wake up to these people's real intentions and stop supporting them in their terroristic, UNLAWFUL actions!
