Moonlight Stage Productions Presents "West Side Story"

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of its triumphant premiere on Broadway, Moonlight Stage Productions will present the ever popular musical, "West Side Story," as part of the 2007 Summer Season of Musicals. It runs August 15 through 26 and will be performed at the Moonlight Amphitheatre, located in Vista's Brengle Terrace Park, 1200 Vale Terrace Drive. Curtain time is 7:30pm. Tickets range from $18 to $34, with discounts for seniors, military, and students, and are on sale at the VisTix Ticket Office, 651 East Vista Way, Vista, by calling 760.724.2110, or online at www.vistixonline.com.

Performances run Wednesdays through Sundays at 7:30pm; Seating begins 6pm for pre-show picnics, and Moonlight provides all lawn chairs used in the Amphitheatre; personal chairs are not permitted. Blankets, sweaters, and jackets are encouraged for cool summer evenings. The concessionaire, “Feliccia’s at the Moonlight,” is open before the show for dinners on the patio. For dinner reservations, call 760.758.9167, or fax 760.758.6315 at least one day in advance. The Moonlight Amphitheatre is a smoke-free venue.

Mission Hills Church Announces Two Programs

Tennis anyone? Mission Hills Church is sponsoring a tennis date to play tennis with others who enjoy the game. Meet at 8am on Saturday, August 11, at the Palomar College Tennis Courts. The Outpost (Middle School) meeting will be Wednesday, August 15, from 6:30-8pm, and includes grades sixth, seventh, and eighth. It will be held in Room 102 at Mission Hills Church, 400 Mission Hills Court, San Marcos, just west of the Mission Hills High School. There will be a time of fun, worship and Bible study. Feel free to invite a friend or two. Pastor Sam Paschall will be announcing some upcoming events for Middle School students and will let you know what Outpost is all about. Escondido Children's Museum Keeps Events Hopping

There are always good things happening at the Escondido Children's Museum, and here are just a few of them:

Mom's Breakfast Club -- On the first Thursday of every month at 9am. The museum opens an hour early exclusively for the Mom's Club. Enjoy delicious breakfast snacks and great conversation. Relax for an hour while museum educators lead fun and education children's activities. Call 760.233.7755.

Help Wanted -- Unique opportunities to give back to your community. ECM is currently looking for volunteers to work with the ECM team including Exhibits Development and Design. Help conceive, develop and design hands-on, interactive exhibits. If this interests you, contact Tricia James.

And, in conjunction with the annual fund-raiser, the Moonlight Masquerade, to be held on October 6, the museum is offering the public a chance to get ready for this year's dance-themed event with professional dance instructor Jerry MacCormack on Thursday, August 23, from 7-9pm, Studio IV at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. "Pops on the Green" Scheduled

At the Great Green, the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, will hold the Pops on the Green program on Sunday, August 12, at 7pm, in Grape Day It will feature the musicians of the San Diego Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Jung-Ho Pak, Director/Conductor. Bring a picnic dinner or enjoy light refreshments available for purchase on site. This FREE event is sponsored by The Linden Root Dickinson Foundation, SDG&E, and the Escondido Rotary Club. (Please note: No alcohol, barbecues or pets allowed in Grape Day Park.)

Contemporary Women To Meet

The next monthly meeting of GFWC Contemporary Women of North County (CWONC) will be Monday, August 13, with social starting at 6:00pm and the meeting at 6:30pm, at the Wood House at Woodland Park on Rock Springs Road in San Marcos. CWONC is a local women's volunteer social and service organization and looking for new members to help with their favorite charities, Operation Top Knot. They collect donations of baby clothes and other items for new mothers whose husbands are serving overseas in the military. Gift baskets are delivered monthly to young moms who often have no family or friends in the area. Donations are needed, including handmade blankets, bibs, hats, booties, onesies, and other clothing, diapers, diaper bags, baby shampoo/wash, teddy bears, photo albums, rattles, teethers, bottles and pacifiers. Coupons are also collected for diapers, formula, juice, and baby products. Contributions for shipping and handling costs are accepted. Theatrx to Feature Bluesicians

On August 17 (and every third Friday) at 7:30pm, the Theatrx will feature The Thomas Brotherz - Bluesicians, an acoustic Blues duo, featuring multi-instrumentation and vocals. The Thomas Brotherz' original music has been described as everything from Gutbucket-two-in-the-mornin' Blues to Hillbilly Raw. Located at 155 E. Grand Avenue, Escondido, Theatrx features intimate cabaret seating, beer, wine and sofe drinks. San Marcos Lions Serve the Community

The San Marcos Lions Club is looking for people to join them at their biweekly meetings. The Lions is a service organization that is recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired, and their service to the community. The meetings are on the first and third Thursdays of every month from 12N to 1pm, and they are currently meeting at the Spaghetti Factory in San Marcos. New officers of the Rincon del Diablo Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, repesenting many areas of North County, were installed recently.
