Lost Boys of Sudan
WOW. You put it out there. You made me cry. It's easy for us to become immune to the suffering we constantly hear about, however, the individual voices and stories make it real. Thank you for including the piece about Monyde. To me he symbolizes all of the children who did not make it. It was the hardest part of the book for me to write and I can never speak about him in public. I'm so glad you put it in the piece. As well as the photo by Kevin Carter. The child and the vulture tell so much of the story, as does Carter's reaction to the situation.
