Dignified Burials At Sea

photoMore and more families are looking into holding memorial services and burial at sea by the scattering of cremains.

One firm that offers a great deal of service in this area is Sea Star Charters of Oceanside. Sea Star is a 60’ boat with a Captain that has been licensed for 31 years, 25 years as owner/operator of the Sea Star. Further, he has degrees in counseling, has been conducting Scatterings at Sea since 1982, and understands the need for compassion and dignity both for the decedent as well as the family.

The boat can handle anywhere from two up to 45 passengers. It’s a comfortable boat . . . often chartered for school trips as well as fishing trips.

Captain Joe Cacciola has a good working relationship with the various cremation services. They will often refer their clients to the Sea Star. The family may, however, book directly with Sea Star via the telephone or the internet if they prefer.

“We believe our service should be available to anyone who has the need,” says Captain Cacciola. “We offer compassionate counseling and the boat and service is available at affordable rates.”

“We believe that the disposition of cremains is an important part of life and we treat it with the dignity it deserves.”

Captain Cacciola invites area residents to come to the dock, inspect the boat, meet the crew, discuss possible needs. By all means, if and when the need arises, call as soon as you decide this is a service you wish as you want to make certain the boat is available on the date you wish, and, remember, there is official paperwork that has to be completed ahead of time as well. This is not a casual event but the same dignified ceremony you would want if you were to attend a cemetery service. Captain Joe Cacciola will be happy to assist. Call him at 760 966.0111.
