Joe’s Glass Shack

Next time you are looking for something fun and different to do . . . head on over to Joe’s Glass Shack in Escondido.

You’ll find a totally unique place in North County . . . a home for artist and artisan alike . . . and you’ll likely get to view artists at work as they fashion their designs into something absolutely beautiful.

photoSurprisingly, you don’t need to study for 20 years before turning out a lovely piece of art. We’re talking as little as several weeks of training and you’re off to the races . . . creating things that you never dreamed you had the ability to do. You’ll not only amaze yourself at your creative talent, but your family and friends as well.

For example:
This piece was a student’s first time effort after only two weeks. Debbie Svetich was the new student (and now published artist!).

It’s a treat to just walk into Joe’s Glass Shack and quietly observe the artists with their works in progress. You’re always welcome there and Joe Perez is always there to answer any questions you have and even show you how easy it is to get started . . . and to learn.

It’s not all glassware either. You can find wrought iron and handsome designs you can work with, such as:
photoThis wall mirror was built by Joe Perez and his installer.

Or, if you’re interested in wonderfully creative doors to your home or garden . . . Joe’s Glass Shack can work with you on teaching the design of those as well. Joe will build the door for you . . . and he’ll teach you how to do a panel for the door.

Another treat: ask Joe to show you his beveled door collection. It’s something extra special. Takes a bit more work, but it’s worth the time and effort for the beauty that ensues. Iron work, custom desiging in a variety of media . . . Joe’s Glass Shack is there to teach you, to provide you with supplies . . and inspiration.

The latest artistic adventure is that of fusing . . . fusing mosaic has artist interest at an all time high. Artists are making jewelry, pendants, platters, plaques. And Joe’s Glass Shack has a computerized kiln so you have absolute temperature control with state of the art equipment. What’s more, Joe’s Glass Shack has just taken in a huge shipment of 21,000 square feet of glass in 2 x 4 foot sheets. There are over 40 colors from which to choose . . . over 30 color panels on display just in the window alone.

photoPick out some glass, get some training . . . turn out works like this.

photoOr this. These glass sheets cost as little as $50 per sheet, which is less than Joe’s wholesale cost.

You say you’re all excited about learning how to become an artist? You say you can’t wait to get started? You say you want to sign up for Stained Glass 101? Well, the cost is right. Only $150 for a full six week course; the glass fusing course is $200 for two sessions . . mosaics are priced on a per item basis.

Isn’t it time for you to get started discovering the artist that dwells within you . . . and has dwelled within you most of your life?
Joe Perez at Joe’s Glass Shack delights in showing people how creative they really are.

Joe Perez and his innovative teaching methods have caught on big time. So much so that his classes are now offered through the Escondido Adult School and the Regional Occupation Programs. There are now openings for the spring and summer classes. Just check your catalog under Enrichment Classes.

Meantime, enjoy life! Visit Joe’s Glass Shack, 228 N. Broadway, Escondido.
