  Kaufman’s Korner February 1st, 2007

Kaufman
Howard Kaufman

Tariff Sheriff

(And it came to pass in those days that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.” -- Luke 2:1)

In 20 centuries no honest man
Can afford to start relaxing,
There’s always a Caesar Augustus to make sure
His minions continue taxing.

Editor’s Note: And with that final piece, Howard Kaufman ends his seven year run as guest poet laureate for The Paper.

It’s been a fun ride with more than a few smiles and a few outright chuckles. He now retires his prolific pen and enjoys his golden years with his beloved wife and companion.

Farewell, and thanks
to
Howard Kaufman
