Cheatin’ On Us, Eh?
We've been around for eleven years now. Every week one of our long time customers will sheepishly drag in a Dell, Compaq, Gateway, E-machine or one of those "Great Quality" disasters from Fry's.
Feeling guilty, they explain that circumstances beyond their control brought this unwanted PC into their possession. A gift, an inheritance, or a rebellious family member caused the abomination. "If I had my way we'd have bought one from you."
Relax. It's not a problem. We encourage our customers to shop around. We are in this business for the long haul and nothing creates a more loyal Computer Factory customer than a three-year ordeal with a Compaq or Dell.
We can even think of several good reasons to buy a low end "package PC." Let's say your wife insists that you buy a PC for her ne'er-do-well brother to help him find a job. A "Great Quality" Celeron from Fry's would be perfect. How about a graduation present for your sisters son who's off to college. You just know this kid is going to flunk out during his first semester and join a punk rock band. A Dell 310 won't cost you much and they are easier to pawn than E-Machines.
On the financial side, we know that "package PCs" have short warranties and high failure rates. Our PC's last forever. When your Dell breaks down and the phone tech in India tells you it’s not covered, we'll be here for you.
Last week a long time customer called for a quote on a new system. He had purchased several PCs for his business from us over the years. He called back to tell us that he could buy a PC workstation from PC Club for nearly a hundred dollars less than our quote. We encouraged him to try one. "Why not?" we advised him "If you can spend less and get a satisfactory result it's just good business to do it."
In all honesty we don't think he can but he will never know how good he had it with our PCs and service until he tries another. He'll be back next year and we'll still be here.
The bottom line is that we're always happy to see you regardless of what kind of PC you bring in. The fact that you’re coming to us is a compliment we appreciate.
San Marcos City Elections-Our opinion.
Jim Desmond is a friend, customer and a great guy. However, we're supporting incumbent "Corky" Smith for Mayor. Jim has aligned himself with the small group of San Elijo Hills residents led by Chris Orlando that brought outside money in to conduct two of the most misleading and dirty political campaigns in San Marcos history, the legally challenged Wal-Mart campaign and the overtly negative "bad for San Marcos" campaign that ousted Lee Thibadeau.
It doesn't matter how you felt about Wal-Mart and Lee, you can't be in favor of the kind of politics and outside financing that influenced those elections.
Keep San Marcos in the hands of folks who actually live and work here by re-electing Corky Mayor, Mike Preston Councilman, and bringing Dean Nelson to City Council. That will allow our friend Jim Desmond two more years on Council to mend fences and make new alliances
