Dixon Lake Report
by Ranger Jim Dayberry
Trout fishing has
been very good and the change in the weather has not slowed the bite one bit.
The lake has pretty much cleared up. We are seeing a small amount of sediment
coming in from Jack Creek with the weekend storm. Night crawler, Power Bait and
Power Worms have been the baits of choice. Trout Cove has really been working
well, especially in the AM hours. The Buoy Line has also been producing quite a
few fish. Our latest stocking was 1200 pounds this past Tuesday, February 15,
2005.
The bass fishing
was similar to last weeks report. The majority of the bass being caught are
smaller males in the 2-4 pound range. The water temp is of course going to be
the key in this game.
The catfish bite
was off some last week. There were very few people targeting the catfish.
Mackerel has been working well. No monsters to report this week. This rain may
throw the switch and turn the catfish bite back on.
Lake Wohlford Report
by Ranger Fred Costa
Trout fishing was
slow due to cloudy water conditions caused by the recent heavy rainfall. The water clarity has started to improve
though and trout action has begun to pick up.
Top baits have been inflated nightcrawlers, rainbow power bait, green
power worms, and small flashy spinners.
The most productive trout areas have been Boat Dock Cove and Senior
Shoreline. 10 year old Kevin Branson of Alliso Viejo,
caught a 3 # 13
trout on pink and white power Bait in Oakvale Cove; Madeline Smith of Vista,
caught a 2 # 7 trout on Rainbow Power Bait at Senior Shoreline; Lyle Young of
Fallbrook caught a limit of five fish, his largest fish weighed 2 # 11 and was
caught on power bait at Senior Shoreline.
Luella Johnson of Kent, Washington caught a 2 # 5 trout on chartreuse
power bait at Senior Shoreline. Carl
Robbins of San Marcos, caught a 2 # 5 trout on rainbow power bait at Senior
Shoreline. Ty Muller of Escondido,
caught a 2 # 5 trout on a nightcrawler at Senior Shoreline.
