Your Body Can Heal Itself! September 9, 2004

Dr. Hoon Lim

“The Miracle of Wondrous Life”

Recently, we began to focus on nutrition

Recently, we began to focus on nutrition.  Let us continue that process but focus on a problem that many of my readers complain of; that thing called ‘fat.’

We first ask you to hear and accept a few facts.  Once that ground is established, we can work toward helping you become slim and trim.

Have diets stopped working for you? Do you have excess weight that won't budge?  Do you feel like your abdomen is slowly bulging out as the years go by? Our body is like a chemical factory. For every bodily activity, our body is undergoing some kind of chemical reactions.

Your blood sugar is the main factor you must control besides your caloric intake for your body fat loss. Calorie means energy. Any excess energy you put into your body, if not utilized, will be stored in the form of fat. At the heart of losing weight is the body fat control. You need to know that it's not just the amount of food you eat that determines your body fat. It has to do with when and how often you eat as well as what and how much you eat.

First of all, you must have a good wholesome breakfast to balance the blood sugar, because you haven't eaten all night. You may have heard, eat your breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen, and supper like a pauper. Let's say you skipped your breakfast and didn't eat anything until lunchtime. You may feel extremely hungry and very likely your blood sugar level will be low. At this point, your body will go into a starvation mode by hanging onto fat to protect itself. Your body just plans for the worst.  If you suddenly load up at dinnertime, your blood sugar goes out of balance.  The ratio of 40% Carbohydrates, 30% Proteins and 30% Fats in calories is highly recommended. The key to losing body fat is to keep your blood sugar level as even as possible with wholesome snacks between meals. Needless to say, it is also important to lower the calorie intake and to exercise.

We welcome another of our patients to visit with you.  Here is Scott Hall:

I’ve been with Dr. Lim for 2 years or more.  I had lower back pain . . he adjusted me and got me back on track.  Not only do I see him on a regular basis to keep myself in shape, but my wife, Terry, and daughter, Whitney, do as well.  We’ve all gone to the whole series of his seminars. We’re big believers in Dr. Lim.  He’s thorough and he really knows his stuff!

Thanks so much to Scott Hall for his testimony.  We are proud to have Scott and his family as part of our clientele.

Many of the habits we write about in this column we teach in a series of three Wednesday night meetings from 6 to 7:00pm.  And there is even more than what we write here in the column.  We’d love to share with you, your family, and your friends!  They are free, nothing is sold, there is no admission fee.  You and your family are invited to attend.  Please call to RSVP as seating is limited.  Blessings to you and yours.
