Assemblyman Wyland to Speak at LSM Republican Women Meeting

 

On Monday, September 13, the Lake San Marcos Republican Women will meet at 11:30am at the LSM Country Club.  The speaker will be California Assemblyman Mark Wyland who will discuss the changes and progress that Gov. Schwarzenegger and the government agencies are making in Sacramento. 

 

Also, Judge Joseph Brannigan, who is running for re-election, will be speaking on the court system and the problems they face.

"Aloha" Luncheon Planned by Christian Women's Club

 

The San Marcos-Vista Christian Women's Club will hold an "Aloha" luncheon on Monday, September 20, at 11:30am, at the Lake San Marcos Country Club, 1750 San Pablo Drive, Lake San Marcos. 

 

A special feature will be a dance presentation by Hawaiian dancers from Oceanside, performing songs and dances from Hawaii.  Dorcas Preston, a professional and inspirational singer from Corona Del Mar, will entertain with some show stopping tunes.  And the speaker will be Jeanne Wheaton, a successful interior designer from Rancho Santa Fe who will share "how to lead a redesigned life."

Lymphedema - What is it? Do I have it? Can I Prevent it?

 

The San Diego Affiliate of Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization will be holding its Open Door Educational Evening on September 20th from 5:30 – 9pm at the Sharp Memorial Outpatient Pavilion at 3075 Health Center Drive in San Diego.  The evening’s topic is Lymphedema.  The evening’s speaker will be Lee Barnes, OTR/Certified Lymphedema Therapist at Sharp Memorial.  Interested attendees will be screened for lymphedema and receive ‘mini’ massages as time allows. 

 

Ann Schneider, owner of Women’s Health Boutique in Escondido will demonstrate and display the latest in lymphedema products.  A complementary dinner will begin at 5:30p.m. and will be provided by Aventis.

CWONC to Hold Benefit for Escondido Firefighters Association

 

The Contemporary Women of North County will hold a fun-filled evening of "who done it" in a Night of Spirits - A Murder Mystery Mixer.  It will be held on October 16, from 6:00-10:00pm at The Wood House, Woodland Park, San Marcos.  This event will benefit the Escondido Firefighters Association Charities Fund. 

 

Dress as your favorite celebrity, past or present, and interact with other guests to solve the mystery.  Not into costumes?  Come anyway and be part of the fun.  This is an adult event, and there will be appetizers, beverages, opportunity and silent auction items and door prizes.     Reservations are $25/person or $45/couple.  Visit the web site at www.cwonc.org for more information and a suggestion of characters, or call Sandra Teters at 760/ 798-1476 for reservations.

 

Escondido Children's Museum Announces New Schedule

 

NEW! NEW! NEW!  Free admission day on Saturday, September 11, from 11-3.  Enjoy a special place for families.  At 2pm learn about what birds and other critters in the garden eat, when you join in the Garden Scavenger Hunt, a popular Saturday program.

 

Saturday, October 2, at 1pm, there will be a hands-on dental health workshop led by Mark Martin, an Escondido dentist and museum supporter, who will help kids learn how to take care of those important incisors, molars, tongue and gums.  Admission is $5/person; children under one year and members are free.

 

Then on Saturday, October 9 at 1pm the program will be Backyard Wildlife Habitat; Insects vs. Bugs.  Put on 3-D glasses and get up close to the insect world.  Vacuum for bugs and take home a ladybug.  Dave Loring is back by popular demand for this program.  Program free with admission of $5/person; children under one year are free.

"Hearing in the Heartland with Family"

 

The SHHH Escondido Chapter, sponsored by the Senior Service Council, will hold their next meeting on Saturday, September 11, 10am to 12Noon, at the Joslyn Sr. Center in Escondido.

 

The program "Hearing in the Heartland with Family" was the theme of the SHHH International Convention held in Omaha in June.  Joan Ireland, member, attended the convention and will share her experiences from convention.  She uses transparencies along with her dialog wich makes it easy to follow her as she tells of the wonderful and meaningful time spend there.  Guests are most welcome.  Meeting starts promptly at 10am; come early for socializing.
